ABOUT THE PROJECT

iDOLiZiNG! is an interactive, half-story, half-educational website dedicated to showcasing the wonderful world of J-pop performers, otherwise known as kaigai idols, in the Philippines. What inspires them? What are their lives like? And what even is a "kaigai idol" anyway? This site hopes to answer this and more!

"iDOLiZiNG! A Thesis Web Project" was created in compliance with the requirements of BMAS 199.1 (Capstone Project) under the advising of Professor Roehl Niño Bautista of the Department of Broadcast Communication of the College of Media and Communication of UP Diliman.
ABOUT THE CREATOR

Kirt Velasco is currently a graduating student of BA Broadcast Media Arts and Studies. They have been a fan of many idols since childhood and are very happy to have been able to use their thesis as an opportunity to be even more (lovingly) insufferable about them.
They had previously published another paper in the Katipunan journal entitled “Historikong Pagbagtas ng mga Banyagang Impluwensiya sa Kontemporanyong P-pop” (A Historical Survey of Foreign Influences in Contemporary P-pop) available to read online.
